Kids Meals - Fun, Fast, and Ease

Need a fun meal tonight?

Kids deserve that special meal once in a while. Maybe it's their favorite, maybe it's something that their friend's family eats all the time. It might be balanced, it might not...what's important sometimes, is that it be their choice, their fun. Here are some fun meals that don't take long to prepare:

Franks and blanks with thanks

Everyone knows to wrap puff dough around frankfurters, but consider making them more fun by adding your child's favorite condiments before baking. Spread some ketchup or mustard between the dough and the frankfurter, seal and bake. Your kids will definitely thank you!

Chicken and Rice

Kids love chicken and kids love rice. Consider combining them! Coat the bottom of a deep baking pan with 2 tsp. of oil. Add 1 cup of rice and 1½ cups of water to the pan. Add one tsp. salt. Place raw chicken pieces on top of rice. Sprinkle with paprika and dill. Cover and bake for one hour. Remove the cover and bake for another 20 minutes until chicken is done (test by inserting a fork and testing that the fork goes in and comes out easily).

Spaghetti and Sour Cream

This is a family favorite. Quick and easy...and great when served with breaded fish. Cook the spaghetti or noodles according to the directions on the package. Drain and rinse. Add 3 large scoops of sour cream, 1/4 cup milk, 3/4 tsp. salt, some onion powder and garlic powder. Stir thoroughly. You can add additional spices as needed. Serve hot!

Eggs and Cheese

You can't go wrong with this one. Just beat up a bunch of eggs, begin frying them and tear several slices of American cheese into the egg mixture and mix it around. Scrambled eggs! Kids love it...and to help make it healthy, slice up some red peppers and cucumubers!
