If you want to replace white flour with whole wheat, it should be replaced 7/8 cup whole wheat flour for 1 cup white flour; not 1:1. |

Use baking sheets below the batter. You can trace the pan on the sheet with a pencil and then cut just inside the circle and insert it in the pan. |
Want to make your cakes lower in fat?

Replace the oil with applesauce. 1:1 ratio - cake stays moist, reacts to the same baking time, and is much lower in fat than if you'd used oil! |

Make sure you use only cold ingredients: cold water; cold margarine or shortening. And before you roll it, put the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or so to make sure it is cold. Same thing with cookie dough that you want to cut into shapes. |
